TIMEVALUE

Function Reference: TIMEVALUE

Syntax
=TIMEVALUE(time_text)
Purpose / Description
Returns a serial time number representing the time stored as a string, so long as it is in a recognisable Excel time format (and optionally an Excel recognisable date).
Arguments
Name Type Description
time_text text string A constant, reference or nested expression providing a text string containing a time (and optionally a date)in a recognisable Excel time format.
Return Values
Type Specific Value Description
number   The serial time number that represents the time encoded in the text string if found.
error #VALUE! If the time_text argument is a logical, number or a text string that does not contain a recognisable time or date and time.
error   Any errors referenced by arguments are returned due to propagation of error values.
Notes / Comments / Advice / Warnings
Note: The serial time number of the time derived from the range cannot exceed 0.9999884 representing 23:59:59. If the formatted time within the string exceeds 23:59:59, the value returned will be reduced in multiples of 24 hours until it is a value representing a time between 00:00:00 and 23:59:59.
Comment: The VALUE function will return both date and time serial numbers as a single value.
