Function Reference: DOLLAR

Syntax
=DOLLAR(number,decimals)
Purpose / Description
Returns a text string representing a value in a currency formatted text string.
Arguments
Name Type Description
number number A constant, reference or nested expression that provides the number whose value is to be represented as a currency formatted text string.
decimals number A constant, reference or nested expression that provides a number representing the number of decimal places for rounding and presentation.  A zero value or positive value allows for rounding and display of the value to the given number of decimal positions.  A negative value causes the displayed value to have no decimals, but also rounds the value to the left of the decimal point, zero-filling those number positions.
Return Values
Type Specific Value Description
text string   If the value passed to the number argument is a number or a value that can be coerced to number, the result is the formatted text string, containing a dollar-formatted value, to the precision given in the optional decimals argument
error #VALUE! If the value of number or decimals is not a number and cannot be coerced to a number.
error   Any errors referenced by arguments are returned due to propagation of error values.
Notes / Comments / Advice / Warnings
Note: The decimal, grouping symbol and currency symbol depend upon the user's regional settings, so may appear different on different machines.
Comment: An option to using the DOLLAR function is to use the more flexible TEXT function.
